Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone

Jan 19 @ 8:00 pm - Jan 20 @ 10:00 pm

Herman’s Hermits are an English beat rock and pop group formed in 1964 in Manchester, originally called Herman and His Hermits and featuring lead singer Peter Noone. The band charted with number-one hits in the UK and in America, ranking as one of the most successful acts in the Beatles-led British Invasion. They also appeared in four films, two of them being vehicles for the band.

Their chart debut was a cover of Gerry Goffin and Carole King’s “I’m into Something Good.” In September 1964, they replaced the Kinks’ “You Really Got Me” at number one in the UK singles chart and in December reached no. 13 in the U.S. – and thus began their wave of success in the States.

Between late 1964 and early 1968, Herman’s Hermits never failed to reach the Top 40 in the States. Six of their 11 US Top Ten Hits were not released as A-side singles in their native UK, including the two aforementioned number ones, plus “Can’t You Hear My Heartbeat” (U.S no. 2), “Listen People” (US no. 3).

The legendary band’s leader, Peter Noone, was born in Manchester, England, where he studied voice and acting at St. Bede’s College and the Manchester School of Music and Drama. As a child, he played “Stanley Fairclough” in the long-running British soap opera Coronation Street. But when Peter hit the age of 15, his career took off when he became “Herman” of Herman’s Hermits. And the rest … is history.

Today, the band continues to tour and display their musical talents on stages everywhere. With nearly 60 years of being one of the preeminent pop bands in history, Herman’s Hermits are a must-see group of gifted entertainers you don’t want to miss.
