Nov 12, 2023 @ 2:00 pm

Are you on Santa’s sweet list? Well, “blitzen” on over and snag a ticket to this Sugar Cookie Class. “Yule” not want to miss out on this!

Interested in learning more about decorated sugar cookies? The Groves Bakery is here to help! In this 2 hour long class, we’ll cover the basics of sugar cookies (so – yes, it’s beginner friendly!), do some piping practice with royal Icing, talk about how to strategize the best ways to decorate sugar cookies, and cover the general concepts around dough and icing. Everything you’ll need is provided at class along with a professional cookie decorator – just bring a smile (and maybe an apron).

You’ll leave class with a great understanding of the basics of sugar cookies plus a few cool techniques we’ll cover in class. More details on refunds, things to bring, credits, and FAQs are below – looking forward to having you with us.

About the Sugar Cookie Decorating Class!

This class is for the beginner cookier or for the person who is just curious about what cookie decorating is all about! If you have limited experiences with sugar cookies, found yourself frustrated with royal icing, or if you’re trying to have fun with family or friends, this is the class for you! We’ll be decorating a set of 6 Thanksgiving themed cookies that tastes amazing and will look even better once you’ve completed your decorating! We have classes throughout the year which highlight different themes so make sure to follow us here and keep an eye on our Facebook page so you can get in on the cookie action!

We provide everything you will need from cookies, icing, sprinkles, to a box to take your awesome creations home in – we just need YOU! Each to-be-baker gets 6 cookies, 4 icing colors, sprinkles, and all the tools necessary to knock this cookie class out of the park. Everything is prepped right before class – so no baking or icing mixing required. Just decorate!

This class is on Sunday, November 12th at 2:30 pm and lasts about 2 hours so we have enough time to decorate and ask questions along the way. Come by yourself, bring your best friend, or bring the family – we have seating for up to 14 people. It’s a blast whether you’re on a date, a girls-afternoon-out or just want to explore what cookie decorating is all about on your own- we have a seat for you!

This class is good for ages 10+, but if you’d like to leave the kiddos at home, purchase an add-on take-home kit (more on that below). The kits are great for kids at home, plus – we’ll send you the class PowerPoint so you can teach them yourself!

Our classes are for almost any age! From youngsters to grandparents – come on in and have some cookie fun with us! Our in-person classes are great for any age; however, kiddos under 10, will need a parent taking the class as well. If you think your child may be too young to enjoy the in-person class, purchase an additional take-home kit! We’ll send you the class PowerPoint, and you can teach your kids in the comfort of your own home.

Class will be held at the Muskego Circle Community Center – that address is S63W13694 W Janesville Rd, Muskego, WI 53150. Parking is free and ample!

Covid / General Cancellation Policy for Classes:

Non-Refundable Tickets: If you cannot take the class due to sickness, please reach out. Can’t pick-up your kit due to sickness? Please send someone else to pick-up your kit and let us know! We don’t mind a substitute coming for you, and our kits are sealed which means they last for 2 weeks on the kitchen counter!

You Don’t Show Up Or Email Prior To Class: If we do not hear from you before your class start time, and you do not show up for class, we won’t be able to offer you a refund or a credit regardless if you’re sick. So please reach out to us if you’re feeling sick before class starts!

Things to Bring:

Wondering what you need to bring to have a successful time decorating? Well – nothing’s required – but here’s the things we recommend if you’d like to elevate your experience!

• Bring an apron! Things can get messy when you’re workin’ with royal icing – so grab an apron (bonus points if it’s cute – I’ll definitely be asking where you got it).

• Bring your glasses! There’s a reference slide deck to help you decorate, but if things get blurry far away, seeing glasses may be a great bet.

• Bring your phone! I love it when students take pictures throughout class – so bring a phone!

• Bring a mask if you’d like! These classes follow the state health guidelines, but if you’d like to wear a mask throughout class – please do!

• Bring a good attitude! Cookies are fun, but they’re also challenging! A good attitude makes all the difference.

Add a Take-Home Kit to your Order!

Order your sugar cookie decorating class kit and take the class home with you to teach a child or friend. Our class kits come with everything you’ll use in class and we’ll email you the class PowerPoint so you can follow our step-by-step instructions from home! Sugar Cookie Kits are created before your class and you’ll pick them up and take them with you after class.

How long can a kit last? Depending on how you store your icing, your kits can last for a week or longer. Freezing cookies keep them fresh for a long time, but we recommend using your kit as soon as possible – ideally within the first week after you’ve taken it home.

Heads up – these cookies include the following ingredients: Eggs, gluten, dairy.

Please note – these cookies are prepared in a kitchen that also bakes with common, known allergens such as wheat, dairy, all types of nuts and soy. Please consider your allergies before registering.

Class Cancelation Policy: Classes may be canceled at the discretion of me, the event host. This rarely happens – but in that extremely rare event that it does, you’ll receive a 100% refund including your Eventbrite fees.

Classes with attendance below 6, will be canceled. Don’t be sad! You can either get a class credit for a future class (along with my apologies), or a full refund! I’ll let you know if your class has low attendance 5 days before the event is canceled so that you can bring a friend (hint hint) or find other plans for that day.

Weather Policy: Sometimes Jack Frost doesn’t play well with cookie class schedules, and Mother Nature seems to be takin’ notes. In the event of inclement weather, I’ll contact you with options – these may differ depending on the weather event, but rest assured – we’ll figure something out!

Eventbrite Fees: Eventbrite does not refund its fees. If you cancel your ticket and request a refund prior to the cancelation window expiring, I’ll happily give you a refund less the Eventbrite fee – since I don’t get this fee back either. Eventbrite keeps it regardless of whether you show up or cancel. I know – I hate it too!
