What is Hen House?
As 2023 came to a close, Lauren and Sally (More Happy Kitchens) had an idea: what if we gathered the most badass women in Ozaukee County? The ones who own small businesses. What if we met on a regular (bi-monthly) basis to learn from wise women, share ideas, celebrate successes, and grow through the challenges of owning a small business? Becasue hello, there are lots. But we’ve been working through them on our own. That ends right now.
This isn’t your classic networking group. No one will be there taking minutes. Come in sweats. Come in a pants suit. COME AS YOU ARE. Think a group of women on a college dorm floor gathering to watch the latest episode of the Bachelorette on a Wednesday night. The energy is: be completely and fully YOU.
Why are we called the Hen House?
Because we want to the group to be whimsical and informal, and sometimes women need to brood together, in one place. Our slogan: When women gather, ideas are born. We looked it up and hens symbolize prosperity, abundance, and maternal love. To encounter a large group of hens implies that a good harvest lies in your future. 🐔 Here in Ozaukee, we’re kinda city, kind of country. Thus, Hen House was born.
Whose hosting?
Lauren O’Brien & Sally Wagner from More Happy Kitchens. Frankly, doing this is terrifying because everyone person invited to the table is a leader. The default feeling is to be intimidated. But we know from a year a business experience that to survive – both personally and for our businesses – we aboslutely need each other. And out of that place, the Hen House was born.
How big is the group?
It’s not big: 30 women at most. This group is meant to be a small, intentional space where each member is seen. Period. If there is interest above 30, we will start a waitlist.
What’s the $$ for?
Simply: we want to invite incredible speakers and we will need a budget for that. And snacks. All the snacks. Drinks can be purchased directly from Art of Joy throughout the evening.
Be a part of something that helps women win. Period. See you soon.
