Dedication Ceremony for Waukesha Parade Memorial
The community is invited to attend the Dedication Ceremony for the Waukesha Parade Memorial at Grede Park on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 4:39 p.m.
The community will gather together as a City on the three-year anniversary of the parade tragedy to dedicate the Parade Memorial at Grede Park. They will honor the lives we all lost, support those who are still suffering, and come together as a community. This ceremony will take place at Grede Park.
The United for Waukesha Resiliency Center will be on hand for resources and support.
The memorial will not be open for public viewing prior to the ceremony. Following the ceremony, the public will be invited to enter the space.
The road closure of Wisconsin Avenue between W. St. Paul Avenue and N. West Avenue will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
Limited handicap parking spaces are available at Grede Park (first-come, first-served). A handicap placard is required and you will need to enter from Prairie Avenue. All others will need to utilize street parking, parking lots, or parking ramps near Downtown and walk to the park. A city parking map is available online: https://www.waukesha-wi.gov/residents/getting_around/parking.php. In addition, the Evangelical & Reformed United Church of Christ at 413 Wisconsin Ave. has offered that the public can park in their church parking lot, which is not far from Grede Park.
Dedication Ceremony for Waukesha Parade Memorial History
This project is possible through the community’s donations and numerous partnerships with the City of Waukesha. Thrive Architects designed the Memorial. VJS Construction Services is overseeing the construction of the Memorial and is offering some of their services at no cost. The Waukesha County Community Foundation (WCCF) is also a partner on this project by advising on fundraising efforts and by administering the Waukesha Christmas Parade Permanent Memorial Fund at a zero percent fee.
While the initial fundraising goal for this project has been achieved, donations are still being accepted for the Parade Memorial Fund. Once the construction costs have been met, any further fundraising and gifts will be used to establish a maintenance fund for the memorial, held at the Waukesha County Community Foundation, ensuring long-term sustainability.
Anyone who wishes to show their support for the Parade Memorial can do so by visiting the Parade Memorial page: waukesha-wi.gov/paradememorial
