There may be no better gathering in the state of Wisconsin for art lovers than the 23rd annual Plein Air: A Paint Cedarburg Event. This outdoor painting festival attracts over 150 artists from across the country, making it the largest group of artists in Wisconsin.
Artists flock to Cedarburg and Ozaukee County to capture the beauty of the historic towns, scenic farms and countryside, and shimmering shores of Lake Michigan. Artists will spend the week painting outside, capturing the changing light and shadows.
Cedarburg, located just north of Milwaukee, is a painter’s paradise. Bordered by Cedar Creek, this picturesque community offers endless painting subjects. Thanks to strong preservation efforts, the downtown looks much as it did more than a century ago. There are over 200 buildings of historical significance including charming homes, delightful shops and restaurants.
Plein Air: A Paint Cedarburg Event offers something for everyone. Art enthusiasts can enjoy an opportunity to spend time with the artists as they paint. There will be multiple opportunities to purchase that perfect painting: the kickoff event, Fresh from Cedarburg, held in front of City Hall on Sunday, June 9th; and the exhibit showcasing over 400 gorgeous paintings at the Cedarburg Cultural Center on June 14th & 15th.
Kick-Off Event: Fresh From Cedarburg, Sunday, June 9th, 2024
This kick-off event gives art lovers a chance to become immersed in the creative process and watch as their favorite scenes of Cedarburg are created “en plein air.” All paintings will be exhibited and for sale on the Cedarburg City Hall Lawn (rain location is the Cedarburg Community gym, next to City Hall).
